The Stoyanovs purchased the vineyard in 1992 and spent several years repairing and upgrading the property, including planting 20 acres of grapes between 1995 and 2001. In 2002, the first wines of the newly-christened David Hill label bottled and ready for distribution.
“What will success look like, at David Hill?" I pondered this recently and want to share my vision for the vineyards and winery: Artistic success: When the scores on all of our wines are 90 points or above. Cultural success: That we keep the property, (farmstead) house and winery in their pristine condition. Sustainable success: That the grapes continue to be grown with as few amendments as possible.
